Sometimes when I’m posting these reviews and giveaways I’m struck by how different shopping and advertising are from when I was growing up.Picture 7

See, it used to be that when there was a hot sale you had to go and stand in a line outside of the store, wait for the doors to open and then make a mad dash to the shelves to try to get the biggest bargain of the holidays.  Of course, shopping is drastically different now.  In 2008, 41% of people bought holiday gifts online, citing the ability to comparison shop for prices as a major reason for their choice.  Just one year later that figure is projected to be up by 18% or more in 2009 (source)!  People are shopping smarter and being more selective with not just how much they spend, but where they choose to spend it.

Believe me, I’m a total bargain shopper.  I clip coupons, shop at multiple stores and am very selective when purchasing a medium to high priced item.  But one of the best bargain tips that I’ve learned is that the Internet is where some high-end manufacturers and stores go when they’re looking to unload some stock at a ridiculous price.  And if you know the right places to go and you go at the right time…well, the Internet can be a bargain shopper’s paradise!

Picture 8Which brings me to my current bargain obsession: Sam’s Club Deal of the Day!  Every day until December 24th Sam’s Club will feature one product every day.  That product will have a really great discount and will only be available online for that day – the next day a new product and great deal are in its place.  An example is this Kalorik 15 Bar Aqua Espresso Maker.  The Sam’s Club Deal of the Day price (when listed on November 4th – quantities are limited) was $78 – Amazon lists the regular price at $199!!  You can sign up for email updates so that you don’t miss any of the deals, which is great.  There’s even a little sneak peek on the site every day into what the deal will be for the next day!

As we get further into the holidays and you’re getting inundated with sales and more spam that you can imagine, it’s going to get harder and harder to tell where the real bargains are and what’s just fancy packaging on a so-so deal.  You trust Sam’s Club to deliver fantastic savings for your family day in and day out throughout the rest of the year, so you can rest assured that your hard-earned money is working its hardest for you at Sam’s.  Check back often and don’t miss out on that great Deal of the Day which turns out to be the Deal of the Year!
