We survived Black Friday!

Yesterday after our Thanksgiving meal we told our family that we were headed off to our very first Black Friday.  They all laughed so hard they burned off all the holiday calories they had just consumed.  Truly, to anyone who knows us at all, the mere mental image of us out in a crowd somewhere – shopping of all things – is downright absurd.

But, hey, everyone likes saving money, right?  And I was curious to see if the experience on Black Friday at Sam’s Club might not be as crazy as it is at other stores.  Since you need to be a paying member to walk through the door at Sam’s  I thought there might not be the same kind of lunacy as you have at other stores.  At least, that’s what I said to Adam to convince him to set foot outside of our door this morning.

Thankfully, I was right.  It wasn’t a madhouse at our local Sam’s Club.  Adam and I headed right to the TV section to figure out which set to buy for his parents for Christmas.  Yeah, well, us and everybody else in the store headed for the tv section.  That part was kind of a madhouse, but with those kind of prices it was worth a little jostling!  We had a few ideas about which televisions we wanted to buy, but what was interesting was that for once I was glad we took the time to see what was in store.  The selection was fantastic and instead of just wanting to get in and get out, we wanted to look around and bargain-hunt.  Believe me, that’s unheard of for us!

We wandered around for a bit and checked out the sales in the rest of the store.  They have some fantastic deals on toys, especially – so if you’re looking for somewhere to fill up a whole cart with holiday gifts, this is definitely the place!  Navigation systems, digital cameras, the latest movies and books…and, while you’re there, you can pick up some groceries at the same time.  Sam’s Club is the ultimate place to do some multi-task shopping!

So, our first Black Friday experience at Sam’s Club was surprisingly good.  We picked up a few great gifts and started to get into the Christmas spirit with the decorations and the music.  I’m looking forward to decorating our own home – and you can bet we’ll be getting our decorations at Sam’s Club!
